Vermont Road Fatality on March 10, 2025: What Happened?

March 10, 2025, a fatal accident occurred on I-91 in Rockingham, Vermont. A father and his infant son lost their lives.

The Incident:

A snow squall hit the area Saturday evening, and visibility was zero. Multiple vehicles slid off the road and had minor accidents. A fuel tanker had stopped on the northbound side of I-91 because of the accidents in front of him. Due to the slippery roads, a 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 couldn’t stop in time and rear-ended the stopped tanker.

Victims Identified

The driver of the Hyundai was 39-year-old Taylor Binnington from North Haven, CT. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His 4-month-old son Parry Lake, who was also in the vehicle,e was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and passed away. Binnington’s wife and 3-year-old son had non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to the same hospital.

Community in Mourning

Taylor Binnington and his son have been tragically taken from us. Bennington was a senior scientist at the Stockholm Environment Institute and a member of North Haven’s Clean Energy Task Force. His colleagues and neighbors remember him as a kind person who cared deeply about the environment and community.

Safety Tips and Recommendations

This is a harsh reminder to be careful in bad weather. Snow squalls bring sudden loss of visibility and rapidly deteriorating roads. Drivers should:

  • Stay Informed: Check the weather before you go.
  • Slow Down: Lower speeds give you more time to react on slippery roads.
  • Increase Following Distance: More space between vehicles can prevent accidents.
  • No Sudden Moves: Sudden braking or turning can cause loss of control on icy surfaces.

Conclusion

March 10, 2025, is a sad reminder of the dangers of sudden weather changes. We must be aware and adjust our driving to stay safe on the roads, especially in bad weather.
